You don't have to be goth to read them. That's sort of the point. Real goths don't go in for "trends". Podling loves the Twilight books. She even has vampire teeth that are NOT the plastic ones. They look pretty cool, actually. But she doesn't think she's a vampire. And she doesn't dress any more "goth-y" or "vamp-y" than she did before. She just wears what she wants, which in and of itself is an eclectic mix of knee socks, leggings, miniskirts and vintage bits and pieces. It's just her thing.

I've read the entire series, and honestly I enjoyed them a great deal. It's a very nice love story, and an engaging plot. The writer is about our age, and wrote them as though it were something SHE would want to read, not just pre-teen and teen girls. They're not bad at all.

It's something I can share with the podling, and it was fun seeing the movie together.

And since I wear a lot of black ANYway...

It's just funny that all of a sudden a whole bunch of middle class kids have decided that hitting up the Hot Topic and wearing black is cool, instead of going to The Gap and Old Navy and whatever, and wearing khakis. I can imagine it DOES send real goths into a weird tailspin wondering what the HELL has happened to the mainstream.

the kids in my Sunday School class were talking about Twilight! Have you read any of them? The kids in my class are not goth so I didn't get that you had to be one to read them.
